Ag meeting to focus on beef

The Department of Agricul?tural Economics at Kansas State University, along with Marion, Harvey and McPherson county extension councils, are co-sponsoring a profitability conference for beef producers from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Jan. 23 at the Engine Club Building in Goessel.

Glynn Tonsor, assistant professor of agricultural economics with emphasis in livestock extension, will provide a beef cattle profitability outlook.

Kevin Dhuyvetter, professor and extension agricultural economist, will present some decision-making tools to determine when it is time to build the cow herd.

KC Olson, associate professor of cow-calf nutrition and management, will give a presentation on ?Matching Grass to Calving.? A producer panel will highlight the feedlot perspective and the issue of building value in the calf crop.

A catered lunch will be served at the conference. The registration cost is $10. People can RSVP by calling 620-382-2325 or sending an e-mail to rroberts@ksu.edu.
