Two Hillsboro nursing homes receive insurance award for no lost-time claims

The Kansas Association of Homes and Services for the Aging Insurance Group Inc. awarded Salem Home and Parkside Homes, both in Hillsboro, for no lost-time workers compensation claims for the 2008-09 policy year.

Kelly Schlehuber, Salem administrator, and Lu Janzen, Parkside chief executive officer, received a plaque and a cash award to be used for their employees.

Sixty-two KAHSA members participate in the insurance group funded workers compensation pool. This winter, the board of trustees released a $125,000 dividend to members who qualified from five previous policy years.

During the past 15 years members have received over $5.5 million in dividends. Each organization received a check, to be spent on staff recognition.

KAHSA is a non-profit organization representing more than 160 not-for-profit nursing facilities, retirement communities, and community based services throughout the state of Kansas.
