MARION COUNTY 4-H CLUB REPORTS (April 29, 2009)

Tampa Triple T?s.

At the club?s April meeting, the Tampa Triple T?s 4-H members and parents heard about schedule changes that will take place at the Marion County Fair in July.

One major change is that the foods judging will take place the day before the fair. Also, champion winners in projects displayed in the 4-H Building will be recognized during the livestock sale. Other changes can be viewed on the Marion County Web site.

The meeting was at 7 p.m. April 20 in the Tampa Senior Center. Roll call, ?Your Favorite Movie,? was answered by 24 members, eight leaders, seven parents, two Tag-a-Longs and three guests.

The treasurer reported a balance of $1,548.89 in the club?s account. The 4-H Council representative reported about the changes made to the fair schedule.

The leaders reported May 1 is the drop/add deadline for projects. 4-H Camp is June 18-21 at Rock Springs Ranch. Rookie Camp will be June 18-19. Camp scholarships are available. The Spring Beef Show will be April 25. The club voted to donate $100 to the Marion County 4-H Development Fund.

The first talk of the night was given by Bryce Meisinger. He showed how to ?Grow a Pizza Garden.? Spotted next was Caleb Meisinger giving information about animal tracks. A ?Fling-a-Ring? was flying in thanks to Zach Barney. He proved that a Fling-a-Ring worked better than traditional paper airplanes. Jared Barney reeled in the audience with his talk about fishing lures. Cailey Barney showed her lamb named Penny.

?Happy Birthday? was sung to those with April birthdays.

Refreshments were served by the Jeff Riffel, Meisinger and Makovec families.

The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. May 18 at the Tampa Senior Center. ?Reece Berens, reporter
