Two representatives from the California unit of Mennonite Disaster Service were in Hillsboro Feb. 22 to pick up a new equipment trailer manufactured by Jost Fabricating. Pictured above are (from left) Kevin Jost of Jost Fabricating, and MDS volunteers David Jost and Lee Thomas of Bakersfield. David Jost said recent forest fires underline the importance of the trailer. ?Our district has two trailers but they are in very bad shape,? said David Jost, a first cousin of Kevin Jost. ?With two fires that were declared disasters, we need some good equipment. When I was talking to Kevin, he outfits them, so it seemed like a good opportunity that in February we?d come out and pick one up. We?ll take it to Bakersfield, outfit the interior. That will be kind of a base where it will go wherever its needed after that. ? Kevin Jost said Jost Fabricating has built around 10 trailers for MDS, with three more on order.
