County board seeks to honor senior artists

The Marion County Senior Citizens board of Directors wants to honor local artists at its annual meeting in October.

The board is seeking nominations for Marion County artists living in the county, who are age 60 and older.

Artists can use the media of acrylic or oil paint, chalk, pencil, pen and ink, watercolor, pastels and enamels on any base.

Paintings, drawings or other works must have been completed in the past two years, and artists need to be willing to have one of their works on display at the annual meeting and to attend the event. Nomination forms are available at local senior centers or through the Marion County Department on Aging.

The public is also welcome to participate in nominations.

For more information, call 620-382-3580 or go to marioncoks.net. The deadline for nominations is Aug. 12.
