CG&S designates $10,800 for two area causes

Jim Enns (left), chair of the Cooperative Grain & Supply Board of Directors, and Lyman Adams (right), CG&S general manager, present a check for $6,000 to Clint Seibel, vice president of the Main Street Ministries Board of Directors, Dec. 17. The money, generated through a matching-fund program with CoBank, will be used to refurbish apartments that can be used as a temporary safe place for women and children in a Christian environment. During their five-year partnership, CG&S and CoBank have contributed a total of $18,000 to various local programs. The CG&S Board also has teamed with the Land O?Lakes Foundation?s ?Feeding Our Communities? matching-funds program to generate an additional $4,800 that will be divided among food banks in Marion, Hillsboro, Goessel and Canton. This is the seventh consecutive year the two groups have combined forces for area food banks. Since 2004, the partnership has resulted in more than $68,000 awarded to area food banks and other local programs.
