Elcon to mark location with open house

 

Elcon Services Inc. is marking its move to 503 Orchard during January with a customer appreciation open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, May 1.

The open house will include a free hot-dog feed, door prizes and booths featuring new products.

Elcon Services Inc. has been in business in Hillsboro since 1963. It is owned by Jonah Gehring and Gib Suderman. The other members of the crew are Josh Ens, Dave Sanders, Jay Bigham, Marshall Litchfield, Brenda Bernhardt, Tina Montonye and Silas Hibbs.

Hillsboro Farmers Market receives grant

 

The Hillsboro Farmers' Market has been awarded a $950 mini-grant from the Kansas Rural Center for the purpose of market promotion.

The funding represents a partnership between the KRC, the Kansas Department of Agricul?ture and USDA Specialty Crop Funds.

Cooperating markets are selected based on past partnership with KRC, with business planning and potential success of a mini-grant partnership.

The Hillsboro Farmers Market open its season May 7.
