Auxiliary to donate $20,000 for St. Luke remodeling project

St. Luke Hospital Auxili?ary has committed to donate $20,000 to St. Luke Hospital for a renovation project.

The project would include the radiology department waiting room and the hallway that leads to cardiac/ pulmonary rehabilitation, the computerized tomography (CT) scanner, ultrasound suite and the DEXA (bone density) scanning unit.

?This remodel will substantially improve the ability of patients to identify the radiology department and other departments in this area,? said St. Luke CEO Jeremy Ensey.

During the past fiscal year, this area served more than 2,000 patients and their families.

?Currently, this area appears removed from the hospital by its decor.,? Ensey said. ?This (project) will allow patients and visitors to feel more welcomed into this area, increasing the confidence level of our service performance ability.?

In addition, the project will include removing wall paper and asbestos from this area, which would decrease potential-infection control issues.

?Studies have shown, and we have witnessed, an enhancement in employee morale and engagement with the modernization of our current facility,? Ensey said. ?Our upgrades have also led to an overall increase in patient satisfaction at St. Luke Hospital.?

Ensey said, ?We appreciate the pride our community feels for their hometown hospital?a hospital that is modern, well designed and functional for patients, families and visitors.?

The project is scheduled to begin at the end of this week with completion planned for October.
