New events to debut at Goessel Harvest Festival

Two recreational events, a flea market and a classic-rock concert will be part of this year?s Goessel Harvest Festival, Sept. 27.

A 5-kilometer run/jog/walk and a benefit golf tournament are both first-time events.

The Harvest Festival 5K will begin at 8 a.m. For additional information contact event director Joe Wuest at 620-367-8500 or joe.wuest@hotmail.com.

The Harvest Festival Benefit Golf Tournament will support the family of Fred and Brenda Schmidt. The event, a two-person scramble with a shotgun start will begin at 10 a.m. at Pine Edge Golf Course.

The course is located one mile north of Goessel on Kansas Highway 15, and 11⁄2 miles east on 130th.

The entry fee of $25 per person includes a noon meal. Prizes will be awarded.

The flea market will also be making its debut this year. Booths will be set up on the south Civic Center parking lot located at 101 S. Cedar.

An evening of music, food and fun begins at 5 p.m. in front of the Main Street Station. The Justus Band will begin performing classic country and rock from the ?60s, ?70s and ?80s at 6 p.m.
