Marion FFA competes at district career development events

Marion/Florence FFA members took third place at the South Central District FFA Agriculture Sales Career Development Event on Wednesday, Dec. 5. The event was hosted by the Marion FFA chapter at Marion Eastmoor United Methodist Church.

Participants in the Agriculture Sales Event were required to take a written test, develop and present a sales presentation for an agricultural product, as well as present a team sale on a Carry-On Trailer product to judges. Team members competing in the event for Marion were Peyton Ensey, Cassie Meyer, Colton Boudreaux, and Tristan Williams. Individually Ensey placed 5th and Williams placed 7th in the competition.

Marion’s Greenhand team placed second in the greenhand division of the Ag Sales CDE. Individually for Marion, Gracie Mackey placed 3rd and Mickelly Soyez placed 5th in the greenhand division.

Colton Boudreaux and Tristan Williams of the Marion/Florence FFA also competed in the Employability Skills Career Development Event hosted on December 5 at Marion Eastmoor United Methodist Church. Participants in the employability skills CDE were required to submit a resume’ and cover letter prior to the event, conduct a personal interview for a job, complete a job application, and write a follow-up letter for the job after the interview. Williams made finals and received 7th place individually in the event.
