Centre sends 16 students to FFA national convention

Courtesy photo Centre FFASixteen Centre FFA members and advisers traveled to Louisville, Ky., Tuesday, Oct. 29 through Saturday, Nov. 2, for the 86th National FFA Convention & Expo.
During the convention, members listened to key?notes by Rick Pitino, coach of the 2013 NCAA championship University of Louis?ville basketball team, and U.S. paralympic skier Josh Sundquist.
Members attended workshops to sharpen their leadership and character skills.
The theme for the convention,?Ignite,? was incorporated throughout the event and will be the theme for the remainder of the school year.
Students also attended the national creed-speaking finals as well as the par-law finals to witness the caliber of career development events on the national level.
While in Louisville, members embarked on educational tours to places such as Churchill Downs, site of the Kentucky Derby, and a tour of the Louisville Slugger factory.
?The National FFA Convention & Expo proved to be an exciting experience for all the members who attended,? said Laura Klenda, Centre adviser. ?From the convention, the students will be able to fuel passion, spark action, and ignite FFA in the other members and the community.?
