4-H News (May 3, 2017)

n The Live Wires-Empire Best 4H Club met at the McPherson County Fairgrounds in Canton on Sunday, April 23.

The meeting was called to order by President Reed Wiens. Roll Call was answered by “What is your favorite animal?” Ten members, six leaders and four guests were present.

Sage Toews gave the treasurer’s report. Reporter Isom Marston said that Smiths sent the report of the last meeting to the paper and Isom would be submitting today’s meeting.

All members stood up and announced what they have done during the last month for 4-H.

The club decided to enter a banner at this year’s 4-H Fair. The Kruse family will serve as chairman of the committee. This year, each club family needs to sell tickets for the upcoming American Legion Family night on May 18 in McPherson, with the proceeds going to McPherson County 4-H.

For the program, Isom Marston gave a talk about “Why attend Jr. Nationals,” and Tanner Riley give a talk about “Antler Hunting.”

Katy Prieb, song and recreation leader, led the club in a game of “Red Rover, Red Rover.”

Following the reading of announcements by Vice Chairman Cash Toews, the meeting was adjourned by repeating the club’s motto, “To Make the Best Better.”

Host family was the Wiens.
