4-H News

• The Live Wires-Empire Best 4-H Club met in the Galva Community Room Sunday, Jan. 22.

The meeting was called to order by President Reed Wiens. The flag salute and 4-H Pledge were recited. Roll call was answering, “What do you like best about Kansas?” Seventeen members, five leaders and eight guests were present.

Following the reading of the previous meeting minutes and the communication, pastor Sharlan Graber of the United Methodist Church of Canton thanked the club for caroling at her house and for the Christmas ornament.

Following the officers’ report, all members stood up and announced what they have done during the past month for 4-H.

Loaves and Fishes this year will be Feb. 12 at the 4-H Building in McPherson. Each member needs to sign up for a desert for the meal. We will be having a joint meeting with the Country Cousins on that day.

For the program, Lane McMannis, presented a talk about 4-H report books and pin applications; Reed Wiens talked about his recent 4-H conference; Breck Smith gave a demonstration on leather tooling.

Katy Prieb, song and recreation leader, led the club in a game of freeze tag.

After announcements, the meeting was adjourned with the club repeating its motto: “To Make the Best Better.”
