4-H News 6-13-18

◼ The Live Wires-Empire Best 4-H Club met June 10 at the McPherson County Fairgrounds in Canton.

The meeting was called to order by Lane McMannis, vice president, followed by the Flag Salute and 4-H Pledge. Roll call was: “What is your favorite part about summer?” Twelve members, three leaders and five guests and parents were present.

The May meeting minutes were read and approved. No communication was read, so we moved on to officer reports. Treasurer Sage Toews gave the treasurer’s report. Reporter Isom Marston stated he would be submitting today’s meeting.

Under old business, the Shaw family spoke about our educational trip to Kaufman Museum in October. It was tabled until next month. The Kruse family is working up plans for the club banner for the 4-H Fair, “Geared for Greatness.” The club will complete this during the July club meeting.

New Business: American Legion Night will be June 18; each member will need to sell five tickets. LW/EB club has been asked to bring 80 deserts for that night.

The Toews family will be organizing concessions for the McPherson County Fair and every club family will need to sign up to help, similar to past years. Items will be ordered from Sam’s Club and Evco. The club voted to update the bank account with McMannis at the Citizen State Bank.

During the program, Isom Marston gave a talk on “Preparing for Calving Kit for Calving Season.”After announcements were read, the meeting was adjourned by repeating the club’s motto: “To Make the Best Better.”
