Kevin Suderman, Hillsboro, leads his young son, Colby, back to the combine for a harvest-time ride after supper last week. The 2010 wheat harvest began on Thursday, according to Lyman Adams, general manager at Cooperative Grain & Supply in Hillsboro. ?It?s going strong now,? said Adams on Monday. Hot weather has helped dry the grain and the ground following heavy rains the previous weekend. Adams estimated the harvest would be about one-third complete by the end of Monday and 80 to 85 percent complete by the end of the week if the weather holds. ?It looks like it will be an average crop with average yields?nothing like the past couple years with bumper yields,? he said.
