‘Wintering Workshop’ planned for ag producers Oct. 31

Six area ag-related agencies will be sponsoring a ?Wintering Area Workshop? from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, at the Strassburg Baptist Church, 2249 Pawnee Road, Marion.

A field visit to a wintering site will follow the workshop.

Workshop topics are winter nutrition, watering and fencing options, calving option and managing shelter and feeding areas.

The presenters are Joel DeRouchey, Kansas State University livestock specialist; Dale Kirkham, field coordinator for the Kansas Rural Center; and Doug Spencer, range management specialist for the Natural Resources Conservation Service.

The workshop sponsors are Kansas Rural Center, KSU Cooperative Extension Service Marion County, Marion County Conservation District and NRCS, Marion Reservoir WRAPS, Cottonwood River WRAPS and the Flint Hills Resource Conservation and Development Council.

A noon meal will be provided.
