Volleyball sub-state: Canton-Galva seeded fourth, Hillsboro sixth at Alma-Wabaunsee

The Hillsboro volleyball team will be the No. 6 seed at the Class 2A sub-state tournament at Alma-Wabaunsee on Saturday. The Trojans, 12-26 for the season, will face No. 3 seed Solomon (22-10) in the quarterfinal round. The winner will take on the victor between No. 2 Wabaunsee (27-9) and No. 7 Herington (9-25).

Also assigned to this sub-state are No. 1 Chase County (29-7), who will play the winner of a play-in game between No. 8 Lyndon (5-23) and No. 9 Northern Heights (2-28). No. 4 Canton-Galva (17-13) will open against No. 5 Valley Heights (17-18) in the other quarterfinal match-up. The winners of the quarterfinal games will advance to the semifinals; the season ends for the losers.

The play-in game will begin at noon, and the quarterfinal games will begin 20 minutes after the completion of that match-up.
