USD 410 patrons approve increase in local option budget percentage

Patrons of Unified School District 410 approved a special election question Tuesday authorizing the school board to increase its local option budget percentage from 30 percent to 31 percent. The vote was 218 in favor and 56 against, which is nearly an 80 percent majority. The favorable vote at 31 percent gives the school board the authority to raise the percentage to 33 percent. Doing so should generate around $153,000 for local schools — mostly from matching state funds — while still giving patrons a property-tax break that would equate to about $24 on a house valued at $100,000.
