A 2-year-old child died Saturday, April 9, at his home on 30th Road near Peabody, according to Marion County Sheriff Rob Craft.
?The child (Lucas Scott Hauck) had earlier been laid down for a nap and when the parents came to check later, they discovered he was not breathing,? Craft stated in a press release.
The Marion County Sheriff?s office responded to the scene at 1 p.m. When personnel from Marion County Emergency Medical Services and Butler County Advanced Life Support arrived on the scene, they tried to revive the child.
His parents are Joshua D. Hauck of Peabody and Autumn N. (Frazell) Hauck of Halstead.
Lucas was pronounced dead at 2:40 p.m. by Don Hodson, Marion County coroner.
Baker Funeral Home, Peabody, transported the child to Wichita for a forensic autopsy, according to Craft.
?The case is currently under investigation,? he said Wednes?day.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Liberty Baptist Church, 613 S. Meridian Road, Newton, with pastor Peter Ostrander officiating.
Visitation today (April 13) is from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home, 215 N. Main St., Newton.
