A two-vehicle accident involving four young people from Marion County claimed the life of a 19-year-old Ramona man Wednesday, July 22. Two other young people were hospitalized in serious condition.
James Weber was pronounced dead at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita shortly after arriving by Midwest Life Team medical helicopter, according to information provided by Marion County Sheriff Rob Craft.
The accident happened at about 9 p.m. at the intersection of 340th and Nighthawk. According to Craft, Jessica Dienes, 20, of Ramona, was driving west on 340th in a 1999 Pontiac. The Pontiac was struck by a southbound 2003 Ford pickup driven by Alex Hajek, 17, of Tampa. Weber and Charles Stang, 17, of Marion were passengers in the Pontiac.
Deines and Hajek were taken by Marion County ambulance to Herington Hospital, where Hajek was treated and released, Craft stated. Deines was transferred by Life Star helicopter to Wesley Medical Center and Stang was flown by Life Team to Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita, both in serious condition.
The Marion County Sheriff?s office is still investigating the accident.
