Two Hillsboro residents have been taken into custody in reference to a recent string of 25 commercial burglaries committed between mid-October and early December, according to a Hillsboro Police Department press release issued Sunday, Dec. 14.
During most of the incidents, nothing was stolen during the break-ins, but property was damaged while forcing entry into the buildings.
The two suspects are a 17-year-old male and a 19-year-old male. A third subject, a juvenile from outside the community, is being sought in connection with the first five burglaries.
Names are being withheld pending charges.
Their capture was the culmination of searches, interviews, collected evidence and surveillance by law enforcement officers. Marion County sheriff?s deputies assisted HPD with surveillance and security.
The two suspects were caught breaking into the Hillsboro Body Shop on East D Street during surveillance. The juvenile was able to escape, but was later taken into custody and is currently incarcerated in a juvenile detention center. The 19-year-old is currently in the Marion County Jail.
