THEFT: Cattle reported stolen from pasture at 280th and Diamond

Marion County Sheriff Robert Craft said that one or more individuals entered a locked gate Thursday morning stealing eight cattle from a pasture in the 2800 block of Diamond in Durham.

Undersheriff (Dave) Huntley responded at 10 a.m. to a caller saying a padlock was cut on a gate leading into the northwest side of the pasture at 280th and Diamond.

“Once in the pasture,” Craft said, “unknown suspect(s) removed eight head of cattle.

“The cattle are described as black, red or Charolais-cross weighing 850 to 900 pounds each, with a yellow tag in their left ear.

“The cattle are valued at more than $10,000,” he said.

Anyone with information concerning this or any other theft is asked to contact the Marion County Sheriff’s office at 620-382-2144.
