Shooting 27 percent from the floor in the second half, the Tabor womens? basketball team dropped a game at home against Bethany on Saturday night, 63-52.
Opening the second half on a 12-4 run, Bethany shot 12-for-18 from the floor in the second half, including 3-for-5 from three.
Tabor cut the Swedes lead to nine at 57-48 with 4:01 remaining in the ball game on a lay up by Gina Hullet. The late game 6-0 surge ended after a Bethany timeout. The Swedes outscored Tabor 6-4 in the final minutes to end the game with an 11-point win.
The late game run appeared for a minute to emulate the Bluejays? effort at the end of the first half. Down 28-18 with under three minutes remaining in the first half, Tabor?s Andrea Robinson scored eight points in a 10-2 run.
With 2:30 left in the first half, Robinson buried a three. Robinson got some help on the next possession when MacKenzie Dick knocked down a midrange baseline jumpshot, narrowing the Swedes? lead to 28-23. Robinson finished the run with two free throws and a three to tie the game at 28 with approximately one minute left in the half.
Bethany went into halftime with a 30-28 lead courtesy of a Clair Cole jumper with 10 seconds remaining.
Bethany?s Cathy Wade led all scorers with 26 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Cole contributed 10 points, five rebounds and three assists.
Tabor had three scorers in double digits. Hullet scored 14 points, pulled down five rebounds and dished out four assists. Dick scored 11 and Robinson finished with 10 points, four rebounds and three assists.
Sitting out the last 5:21 in the first half due to picking up her second foul, Tynon Honn scored nine points and grabbed five rebounds. Other Bluejays scorers were Sara Wycoff (5) and Vivian Olivera (3). Olivera led Tabor on the boards with six rebounds.
Tabor falls to 3-12 on the season and 2-4 in KCAC play. The Bluejays are tied for fourth place in the KCAC standings with Bethany, Friends and St. Marys.
Thursday, Tabor travels to Winfield to play 12-4, 5-1 Southwestern. The Jinx have won three in a row.
