Tabor men’s soccer defeats Ottawa, 4-1, to advance to finals

The Tabor men’s soccer team continued one of their most successful seasons in recent history with a 4-1 win over Ottawa University tonight in the KCAC men’s soccer semi-finals, hosted at Joel H. Wiens Stadium in Hillsboro. With the win, the Bluejays improve to 13-6 overall. They are scheduled to play top-seeded Kansas Wesleyan (14-2-2, 9-0) in the finals hosted by Southwestern College in Winfield, Kan., Saturday at 4 p.m.

No. 2-seeded Tabor got the early jump on No. 3 seed Ottawa with a goal in the sixth minute complements of the All-Conference dynamic duo, as forward Marian Saar found the net off an assist from forward Phillip Wahl.

Keaton Heather scored in the 40th minute for the Braves to make it a tie going into the half.

But the Bluejays came out blazing in the second period, with Saar scoring an unassisted goal in the 61st minute and Wahl following it up at 72:19 with another goal off a Sergio Torres assist. Saar made the pass to Torres in the 98th minute for the final score and three-point margin of victory.
