Tabor men defeat Spires in quarterfinal game

The fifth-seeded Tabor College men?s basketball team defeated No. 4 University of Saint Mary Thursday in the quarterfinal round of the KCAC basketball championship tournament, 74-68.

The Bluejays trailed, 35-33, at halftime, but outscored the Spires 41-33 in the second half to claim the six-point victory.

Andrew Thomas scored a game-high 20 points. D?Marco Smith added 16 and Robbie Samuel 12.

COMING?Tabor will travel to No. 1 Friends Saturday for a semifinal matchup at 4 p.m.

The second semifinal will feature No. 2 Sterling and No. 3 Bethany. The championship game will be played at Hartman Arena near Wichita Monday at 8 p.m.

Additional quarterfinal scores from Thursday night: Friends defeated No. 8 Southwestern 55-52; Bethany defeated No. 6 Ottawa 92-86; Sterling defeated No. 7 McPherson 82-68.
