The Hillsboro boys will be the No. 2 seed and the girls will be seeded sixth when the 23nd annual Trojan Classic basketball tournament tips off this week.
Hillsboro boys (7-1 at the time of seeding) will open against No. 7 Clay Center (1-6) at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. If the Trojans win, they will play the winner of No. 3 Republic County (4-3) and No. 6 Sunrise Academy (3-5) at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Brown Gymnasium.
If Hillsboro loses to Clay Center, the Trojans will take on the Republic County-Sunrise loser at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Tabor College gymnasium.
The Trojan girls (3-5) will open against No. 3 Hesston (6-2) at 6 p.m. Tuesday. If Hillsboro wins, the Trojans will take on the winner of No. 2 Riley County (6-1) and No. 7 Bennington (1-6) at 6 p.m. Friday in Brown Gymnasium.
If the Trojans lose to Hesston, they will play the loser of the Riley County-Bennington game at 6 p.m. in the Tabor College gymnasium.
Saturday’s final games begin at 11:30 a.m. for the girls and 1 p.m. for the boys, with match-ups determined by the results of the first two rounds.
