Sedgwick sweeps Goessel

Sedgwick used an 18-8 second quarter run to jump into the driver's seat on the way to a 52-38 win over the Goessel High School boys basketball team Friday. The GHS boys had taken a 13-8 lead in the first quarter on the strength of 3-pointers by Travis Fensky and Kendall Voth, and a layup-and-1 by Austin Unruh. But Sedgwick's Kingsley shot down the Bluebirds with 10 points in the second and eight more in the third. Kingsley finished with 24 points. Unruh led the boys with 16.

The GHS girls took a 43-35 loss despite 19 points from Kendra Flaming. A 13-8 Goessel run cut into Sedgwick's lead, but the Bluebirds trailed 19-16 at halftime. Sedgwick used a 14-8 third quarter to take control, and held GHS at an arm's length in the fourth.
