Scheduling updates for HHS sports

Several changes and updates regarding year-end athletic events for Hillsboro High School teams have been announced this week.

TRACK

Due to weather complications, the MCAA league meet has been moved from Nickerson to Marion. The meet will begin at 3 p.m., Friday, May 11.

GOLF

The MCAA league meet has been moved from Hoisington to Hesston. It will begin at 3:15 p.m. Friday, May 11.

On Monday, May 14, Hillsboro will host a Class 3-2-1A regional at the municipal golf course. Tee-off is planned for 8:30 a.m.

SOFTBALL

HHS (10-6) will open regional-tournament play with a 2 p.m. game scheduled for Tuesday, May 15, against the winner of Monday?s game between Marion-Peabody (4-11) and Hesston (4-15). If the Trojans win, they will play for the championship at 5 p.m. Tuesday. The other side of the bracket includes Herington (9-7), Southeast of Saline (7-9) and Wichita Collegiate (2-12).

BASEBALL

HHS (8-8) will open play in the semifinals of the Class 3A regional at Hoisington with a 4:30 p.m. game against Hoisington (10-7) on Tuesday, May 15. If the Trojans win, they will play the winner of Halstead (11-4) versus Lyons (6-8) or Haven (5-13) for the regional championship at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

TENNIS

Clay Shewey will compete Friday in the singles bracket of the Class 3-2-1A state tournament at the Ralph Wulz Riverside Tennis Center, 551 Nims St., Wichita, with action beginning around noon.
