Richard Barkman, 72

Richard Barkman, 72, founder of Barkman Honey and Artesian Honey Producers, died March 12 at Hillsboro.

The service will be at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, at Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church with pastor Keith Nash officiating. Burial will preceed the service at 6 p.m. at Gnadenau Cemetery, two miles south of Hillsboro.

Richard Barkman was born Sept. 17, 1935, to Ezra P. and Emilie Esau Barkman in rural Hillsboro. On June 26, 1960, he was married to Joyce Brandt at Hillsboro.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Brent and wife Lynette Barkman of Hillsboro; a daughter, Carmon and husband Ken Jones of Hillsboro; a brother, Jim Barkman of California; a sister, Lucy Spohn of Colorado; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive guests from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Parkview MB Church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are welcomed for memorial funds established with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, Caring Bridges, Lewy Body Dementia Association, and Gideons.
