Regional tournament seedings announced for Hillsboro softball and baseball teams

The Kansas State High School Activities Associa­tion has released regional tournament seedings for the Hillsboro softball and baseball teams.

SOFTBALL

The Trojan softball team, with a 2-17 record, has been assigned the fourth seed in the Class 2A regional at Moundridge May 16-17, and will play fifth-seeded Little River, also 2-17, in the opening round at 3 p.m. May 16. The winner of that game will play the No. 1 seed, Mound­ridge (12-7), in the semifinals at 4:30 p.m. the same day.

On the other side of the bracket, No. 2 Inman (7-13) will play No. 3 seed Canton-Galva (4-14) in the semifinals at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The championship game is scheduled for 5 p.m. May 17.

BASEBALL

The Hillsboro baseball team, which is a partnership with Peabody-Burns, will play in the Class 3A regional at Southeast of Saline May 15-17.

Hillsboro (5-15), the No. 5 seed in a field of six teams, will face Remington (6-12) in the opening round at 5 p.m. Monday, May 15, at REMINGTON. The winner will face the No. 1 seed, Marion-Centre (18-1), at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, at Southeast of Saline.

On the other side of the bracket, Southeast of Saline (13-5), the No. 2 seed, will play the winner of No. 3 Beloit (10-5) and No. 6 Minneapolis (5-15), who will play a first-round game May 15.

The championship game is scheduled for Wednesday, May 17, with the start times to be announced later.
