Randy Herbel sentenced to life for child rape

Attorney General Steve Six announced today that a judge in Marion County sentenced Randy Herbel, 42, of Hillsboro to two life sentences for raping a child he was babysitting in 2006.

In July 2009, Herbel was found guilty of one count of rape of a child and one count of aggravated indecent liberties with a child. The acts occurred on or about Aug. 1 and 2 of 2006 in Hillsboro while the he was babysitting the victim. The victim was a 5-year-old female.

Both offenses are off-grid person felonies, pursuant to Jessica’s Law. Herbel was sentenced to a life sentence for each count without possibility of parole for 25 years, as well as lifetime registration as a sex offender.
