Palic named 3A discus champion, one of three top-three Warrior performances at state

Marion’s seven athletes competing in Class 3A at the state track and field championship earned three top-three medals Friday and Saturday, including one first-place finish.

Tyler Palic was named the Class 3A discus champion with a first-place throw of 175 feet, 11 inches, more than 20 feet beyond second place.

Palic also placed sixth in the shot put (48-5.5).

Jack Schneider earned a bronze medal in the 200-meter dash (22.51).

Tyler Arocha, Zachary Stuchlik, Williams and Schneider placed sixth in the 4×400 (3:32.04).

Bryce Shults finished in a two-way tie for seventh place in the pole vault, clearing 12-6.

Colin Williams placed eighth in the 1,600 (4:40.22) and 16th in the 800 (2:25.10).

Meanwhile, Marissa Jacobson was the Warrior girls’ only competitor. She placed third in the long jump (17) and was 12th in the 300 hurdles preliminaries (50.74).
