Marion volleyball season comes to a close at Riley County

The Marion volleyball team’s season came to a close in the semifinals of the Class 3A sub-state tournament hosted by Riley County Saturday.

The No. 4 seed in the tournament, Marion secured a 2-0 win over No. 5 Southeast of Saline in the quarterfinals, 25-20, 25-21.

However, in the semifinals, the Warriors ran into Silver Lake, who ranks first in the state in Class 3A. The Eagles lived up to their No. 1 seed, defeating Marion in two sets, 25-9, 25-13, then defeating Riley County in the championship, 25-11, 25-13, to punch a ticket to state.

Marion concludes the season with an overall record of 28-11.
