Marion teams sweep Remington

The Marion basketball teams swept Remington on the road Tuesday. The girls won, 42-29. The boys won, 44-34.

Girls—Having lost to Remington earlier in the season, Marion emerged victorious in Tuesday’s league contest by a 42-29 score. The Warriors lost a non-league matchup to the Broncos the first week of December, 42-35.

Aided by a three-pointer and a pair of two-point baskets from Kourtney Hansen, Marion enjoyed a 10-6 lead after one quarter of play. Marion extended that margin to 19-11 at halftime, as Hansen led all scorers with 11 points at the break.

Scoring increased for both teams in the fourth quarter, with Marion holding a 14-10 advantage. Alli Molleker added five points to the effort.

The teams battled fairly evenly through the final quarter, with Marion’s quarter scoring led by Sam Richmond, who made three of four free-throws she attempted.

Hansen led all scorers with 17 points. Molleker scored 13.

With the win, Marion improved to 2-0 in league play, 6-2 overall.

Boys—Marion defeated Remington, 44-34, Tuesday. Marion improved to 1-1 in league play, 3-5 overall. No additional information was available at the time of this post.

Coming—Marion will host Bennington Friday.
