Marion softball team is No. 5 seed in SES Class 3A regional

The Marion softball team is the No. 5 seed in the Class 3A regional tournament hosted by Southeast of Saline Monday and Tuesday.

First-round games will be played at the higher seeded school, with following games hosted by SES. The Warriors (11-9) will travel to No. 4 Hutchinson Trinity (10-8) Monday for a first-round game beginning at 4:30 p.m. The winner will face No. 1 Southeast of Saline, who has a first-round bye, Tuesday at 2 p.m.

The other half of the bracket features No. 2 Lyons/Chase (12-6) against No. 7 Hesston (7-13) and No. 3 Herington/White City (10-8) against No. 6 Salina-Sacred Heart (7-13).

The championship will be played Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Marion split a doubleheader with Hutchinson Trinity during the regular season, winning a 9-8 contest in Game 1, then losing, 18-14, in the nightcap.
