The city-wide cleanup in Marion continues through Friday, but officials are urging residents not to wait until the last minute.
The cleanup week has started, but Marty Frederickson, streets superintendent and building and zoning inspector, told the council Monday that few residents have called or left items at curbside to be picked up.
Marion?s city-wide cleanup will end Friday and any calls after noon will be too late, said Angela Lange, city clerk.
With winter just around the corner, the cleanup week is a good time to clear out items laying around the yard.
City crews will pick up refrigerators, stoves, or old furniture, along with other miscellaneous obects or yard waste .
If a refrigerator or air conditioning unit is left out for sanitation crews; however, the freon must be drained from them, Lange said.
?No tires or hazardous wastes will be collected,? she said.
The city is hoping residents will consider sprucing up their yards and take advantage of the cleanup before the week concludes.
