The Marion baseball team is the No. 1 seed in the Class 3A regional tournament the Warriors will host Monday and Tuesday.
Marion enters the tournament with a 19-1 record and will have a first-round bye. The Warriors will face the winner of No. 4 Wichita Collegiate (11-9) and No. 5 Halstead (10-10) in a semifinal matchup Tuesday at 2 p.m.
The other half of the bracket features No. 2 Sedgwick (17-1) with a first-round bye. No. 3 Wichita Independent (16-4) and No. 6 Belle Plaine (6-14) will compete Monday.
The championship game will be played at Marion Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Three teams in the Marion bracket are ranked in Class 3A. Marion ranks third, Sedgwick fifth and Wichita Independent eighth.
During the regular season, Marion split a doubleheader at Sedgwick, losing 4-2 in Game 1 and winning the nightcap, 7-0. Marion swept Halstead Tuesday at home, earning two, 12-2 run-rule victories in five innings.
