Embarq representative Dan Perry stated Thursday at 4:45 p.m. that all long distance and cell service is out for the time being in Hillsboro. He did not know when service would be restored but gave assurance that they are working on getting back to normal as soon as possible.
?The outage goes beyond the Hillsboro area. Cell phones are affected because cell providers buy their T1 lines from Embarq. DSL will work in Hillsboro because it comes from the local switching equipment as does the local phone dial tones. Local service is not affected.
