Home canning will be featured at ?Sunday at the Schaefflers? from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. June 14 at the William F. Schaeffler House, Grand and Jefferson Streets, in Hillsboro.The Schaeffler family annually canned fruit gathered from the orchard north of their house and stored produce-filled jars in the basement of their 1909 house. Monica Leighy, who teaches Family and Consumer Science at Hillsboro High School, will give facts and a demonstration about canning techniques and processes. The public is invited to this event, which is part of this month?s Centennial Celebration of the Schaeffler House.
