The Hillsboro volleyball team placed third at the Trojan Invitational Saturday. The Trojans defeated Conway Springs, Sterling and Minneapolis in pool play to advance to the championship bracket. They lost in the semifinals, 17-25, 25-12, 14-25, to Circle, the runner-up in the other pool. Hillsboro came back in the third-place match to beat Minneapolis for the second time, 25-15, 25-18, and improve their season record to 29-6 with the 4-1 day.
Pratt won the tournament title by beating Circle again in the championship match. The Greenbacks are now 32-1 for the year.
