Hillsboro hoops teams will open sub-state play at home

Hillsboro?s basketball teams will be hosting their respective first-round games in the Class 2A sub-state tournament next week. First-round games are played on the home court of the higher seeded team; remaining games will be played at Ell-Saline, the host school.

GIRLS ? On Monday, Feb. 29, the Hillsboro girls, seeded No. 4 with a 10-10 record, will host Herington, which has an identical record. Hills?boro was awarded the fourth seed — and the home-court advantage — with a coin flip.

Also on Hillsboro?s side of the bracket is the No. 1 seed Moundridge (17-3), who will host the No. 8 seed Little River (4-16).

On the other half of the bracket, No. 2 Berean Academy (15-5) will host No. 7 Ell-Saline (7-13) in the opening round and No. 3 Canton-Galva (11-9) will host No. 6 Inman (7-13).

BOYS? The Hillsboro boys (13-7) will be the No. 3 seed and will host No. 6 Little River (9-11) at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, in Brown Gymna?sium.

Other first-round games: Berean (19-1), the No. 1 seed, will host No. 8 Herington (1-16); and No. 4 Inman (10-10) will host No. 5 Canton-Galva (10-10). On Hillsboro?s side of the bracket No. 2 Mound?ridge (14-6) will host No. 7 Ell-Saline (2-18).

Semifinal games are scheduled for March 4 and the finals for March 5, all at Ell-Saline.
