Hillsboro awarded No. 1 seed for state softball tourney

The Hillsboro softball team was awarded the No. 1 seed for the Class 3A state tournament Friday and Saturday at Manhattan?s Twin Oaks Complex.

The loser of that game will be eliminated, and the winner will play in the semifinals at 10 a.m. Friday against the winner of No. 4 Anthony Harper-Chaparral (17-6) and No. 5 Pittsburg-St. Marys Colgan (17-6).

On the other side of the bracket, first-round games pit No. 2 Silver Lake (20-3) against No. 7 Burlington (14-7) and No. 3 Goodland (20-3) against No. 6 St. George-Rock Creek (17-6).

The third-place game is scheduled for a noon start on Saturday and the championship game is set for at 1 p.m.
