The Hillsboro softball and baseball teams have landed the No. 1 seeds in next week?s Class 3A regional tournaments. The brackets were released today.
In the softball regional at Lyons, the Trojans (16-4) will get a first-round bye Monday, then will play the winner of No. 4 Sterling (5-15) and No. 5. Marion (5-15) in the semifinals at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
On the other side of the bracket, No. 2 Southeast of Saline (10-8) will take on No. 7 Lyons (3-17), and No. 3 Ellsworth (9-9) will play No. 6 Ellinwood (4-14) in first-round action Monday. The winners of those two games will play in the 4:45 p.m. semifinal game on Tuesday.
The championship game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
In the baseball regional at Marion, Hillsboro (13-5) earned a first-round bye and will play the winner of No. 4 Minneapolis (11-9) and No. 5 Marion (10-9) at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 18. Minnea?polis and Marion will play their first-round game at 7 p.m. Monday.
On the other side of the bracket, No. 2 Beloit/St. Johns (13-5) will play No. 7 Wilson/Ellsworth (3-13) at 2 p.m. Monday, and No. 3 Bennington/Tescott (11-9) will play Southeast of Saline (8-10) at 4:30 p.m. Monday. The winners of those two games will play at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The championship game is schedule to begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
