The Goessel High School boys basketball team used a 20-12 run in the first quarter of Friday's 70-50 win in Goessel. The Bluebirds led 35-25 at halftime, and each team doubled its score in the second half. Craig Banman scored 21 points, Austin Unruh scored 20, and Kendall Voth scored 12. Unruh's 12 rebounds gave him a double-double for the night.
The Bluebirds did most of their damage at the foul line, making 26 of 38 free throw attempts, but also notched 13 2-pointers and six treys. Banman, Niko Herman and Voth each scored twice from 3-point range. Jake Green led Remington with 15 points.
The GHS girls fell by a 43-37 final score.
