GHS boys trounce Little River

Pithy sayings are rarely quantitative, so the qualitative expression "more than doubled-up" may be the pithiest description available for the utter thumping that the Goessel High School boys basketball team dealt Little River in Friday's 56-24 win. The Bluebirds limited Little River to six points in the first half and ran their own offense through the post, with Kendall Voth, Austin Unruh and Weston Hiebert combining for 11 in the first frame. Hiebert's "and-1" layup helped set the tone for a second quarter that saw Goessel's full array of weapons fire accurately. Craig Banman, Niko Herman, Unruh, Voth and Aaron Reimer scored, and the GHS defense allowed only one basket in the period.

Unruh's 14 points were the most by one player on either team, and Goessel had eight player with one or more field goals.
