As the rains continue, the flooding is increasing in areas of Marion County. Remember to be safe and don’t take chances with driving.
The Marion County Clerk’s office released the following information this afternoon:
The US Army Corp of Engineers is currently releasing water from the Marion Reservoir.
Residents near the Cottonwood River should be aware that water will rise, causing possible flooding outside of the river banks. Roads may become impassable.
Water is expected to rise at the Cottonwood River tonight, Tuesday, May 21, 2019, near Marion at approximately 5:30 p.m. and near Florence at approximately 10:30 p.m.
At this time, USACE is releasing the minimum amount necessary; however, they may release greater amounts at any time.
We will continue to update you as we hear of any road closures or other rain and flooding related news.
