Filing deadline for fall ballot is June 1

The filing deadline for state and county offices is noon, Monday, June 2.

Candidates must file in order to be included in the primary election Tuesday, Aug. 5.

Offices up for election are:

Local/county: commissioner, District 1 (Hillsboro area); township clerks for all townships; all precinct committee men and women;

State: representative District 70; representative District 74; senator District 35 (unexpired term); governor/lieutenant governor; secretary of state; attorney general; treasurer; insurance commissioner; Board of Education District 7.

Local candidates file with the Marion County Clerk, 200 S. Third St., Suite 104, Marion.

State candidates file with the secretary of state?s office in Topeka.

Candidates may file by fee or by petition. The filing fee for county commissioner is $212.36. The filing fee for township clerk is $1.

There is no filing fee for precinct committee man or committee woman.
