DEATH: Henry Bestvater, 88

Henry Bestvater, 88, industrial worker and handyman, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2015, at Bethesda Home in Goessel. Graveside committal will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at Gnadenau Cemetery near Hillsboro. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at First Mennonite Church in Newton with pastor Anita Kehr presiding. There will be no public visitation. He was born July 23, 1926, to Abraham H. and Helena Franz Bestvater, rural Canton. On May 10, 1953, he was married to Virginia Jost, who survives. He also is survived by their children, Kathy and Stan; a sister, Mildred Riekenberg of Lincoln; a brother-inlaw, Harry Kasitz of Newton; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials can be given to HOPE Home Repair Inc., Newton, in care of Peter?sen?s Funeral Home, 215 N. Main, Newton 67114.
