DEATH: Katie Funk Wiebe, 92

Katie Funk Wiebe, 92, an author, teacher, mentor, historian, and much more, formerly of Hillsboro, died Oct. 23 in Wichita.

A memorial service will be Jan. 20, 2017, at Lorraine Ave­nue Mennonite Church, and 655 S. Lorraine St., Wichita.

A viewing will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28.

She was born Sept. 15, 1924, in Laird, Sas­katche­wan. On Aug. 21, 1947, she was married to Walter Wiebe, who predeceased her in 1962.

Survivors include daughters Joanna and husband Tim Baer and Susan Wiebe; son James and wife Kathy Wiebe; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
