Elsie Groening, 91, of Hillsboro, died Aug. 24 at Hillsboro Community Hospital.
A celebration of life service is at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3 at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church, 300 Prairie Pointe, with pastor Brian Allen officating.
Burial is at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Cemetery, Hillsboro.
Visitation is from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday at Jost Funeral Home, 401 S. Washington St., Hillsboro.
She was born July 5, 1925, to Jacob H. and Anna (Wiebe) Ewert at Mountain Lake, Minn. On Aug. 8, 1946, she was married to Marvin Groening, who predeceased her in 2007.
Survivors include sons Loren Groening of Hays, Joel and wife Cindy Groening of Davao, Philippines; daughters Marilyn and husband Ron Hiebert of rural Hillsboro, Karleen and husband Jerry Warkentin of McAllen, Texas; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
